About the position

DaVita is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide compassionate care in an outpatient dialysis center. This role is crucial in supporting patients with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease, allowing them to receive life-sustaining treatment. PCTs will engage in direct patient care, monitor treatment, and build long-term relationships with patients, all while adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care during dialysis treatment sessions.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after treatment, including recording vital statistics and observations.
• Set up and operate hemodialysis machines.
• Educate patients on kidney dialysis and related topics.
• Build long-term relationships with patients receiving treatment.
• Work collaboratively with a cross-functional team of healthcare professionals.

Requirements

• Desire to enter the healthcare field and care for others.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Comfortable working around blood and needles.
• Ability to mix acid or bicarb as required.
• Physical and mental ability to work long hours on your feet.

Nice-to-haves

• Health care experience such as BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
