About the position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Select Specialty/Regency Hospitals plays a crucial role in providing care for chronically and critically ill patients who require extended hospital care. This position involves direct patient interaction, ensuring their comfort and well-being while supporting the nursing staff in delivering high-quality care. The PCT is responsible for various patient care tasks, contributing to a team-oriented environment focused on patient recovery and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Performing services for patients including bathing, oral hygiene, and feeding.
- Answering patient lights and providing timely services to enhance patient well-being.
- Participating in hourly rounds to monitor patient needs.
- Transporting patients to and from treatment centers and assisting with mobility.
- Maintaining cleanliness of instruments and equipment such as bedpans and wheelchairs.
- Keeping patient rooms clean and orderly, including making beds.
- Maintaining unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant work experience (3+ years).
- BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Hospital experience as a nursing assistant or certification as a nursing assistant, or experience in a related field such as a medical assistant or as an actively enrolled nursing student.
