About the position

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Fresenius Medical Care, you will play a vital role in supporting patients with kidney disease and their families. This position involves building strong relationships with patients and providing safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The role offers opportunities for growth and advancement within the healthcare field, including pathways to become a Registered Nurse or take on leadership roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Set up, test, and operate hemodialysis machines for patient treatments.
• Obtain and document necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight for each patient.
• Evaluate vascular access pre-treatment and perform vascular access cannulation.
• Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy and evaluate intradialytic problems, providing intervention as prescribed.
• Report any significant information and/or change in patient condition directly to supervisor.
• Enter all treatment data into the designated clinical application accurately and timely.
• Collect, label, prepare, and store lab samples according to required laboratory specifications.
• Clean and disinfect dialysis machine surfaces, chairs, equipment, and surrounding areas between treatments.
• Assist other healthcare members in providing patient education.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Dependable, compassionate, caring, supportive, collaborative, and reliable traits.
• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility (preferred but not required).
• Successful completion of the Fresenius Medical Care dialysis training program and CPR certification.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous healthcare experience is not required but is preferred.
