About the position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) role at Emory Healthcare is a part-time position focused on providing essential patient care and observation under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). The PCT is responsible for ensuring patient safety, comfort, and hygiene while assisting with various clinical tasks and emergency situations. This position is integral to maintaining a clean and healthy work environment and supports the overall mission of Emory Healthcare to deliver high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN.
  • Clean the patient's room and operate various clinical equipment.
  • Assist with emergencies and patient procedures.
  • Collect and transport patient specimens and complete applicable forms.
  • Maintain hospital and unit-specific competencies.
  • Assist in emergency situations as directed by an RN/LPN.
  • Ensure prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided.
  • Comply with Standard Precautions guidelines, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards.
  • Assist in the use of medical equipment such as bag-valve-mask devices, oxygen, and suction equipment.
  • Operate various patient care equipment including lifts, scales, and non-invasive BP monitors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • BLS certification required.
  • One year of direct patient care experience, or successful completion of a nursing assistant training course, or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through the State of Georgia, or current enrollment in a nursing program with completion of 2 clinical rotations.
