Patient Care Technician (PCT)

About the position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) role at Ascension involves providing essential clinical and non-clinical support to patients under supervision. This position is crucial in ensuring patient comfort and safety, assisting with daily living activities, and maintaining a clean and orderly environment in the hospital setting. The PCT will work full-time in the Admission/Discharge Unit, contributing to the overall care and well-being of patients at Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.
• Aid with movement and placement of patients.
• Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
• Report findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Document necessary records.
• Keep patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintain medical equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Nurse Aide certification preferred.
