About the position

The Patient Care Technician/Unit Secretary position at Marion Health involves providing direct patient care and administrative support within the Med/Surg/Telemetry Unit. The role is essential for ensuring patient comfort and safety while assisting the nursing staff with various tasks. The technician will perform simple treatments, maintain cleanliness, and handle clerical duties, all under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Administer personal care to patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
  • Perform simple treatments and ensure the patient's surroundings are clean and orderly.
  • Provide information and assistance to physicians, patients, families, and vendors.
  • Handle general secretarial, receptionist, and clerical duties.
  • Communicate patient needs to the nursing staff to maintain a safe environment.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current, valid Indiana Certified Nurse Aide or Home Health Aide certification, or completed a formal nursing assistant program with current experience, or six months recent hospital experience providing direct patient care, or currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing program with completed Nursing Fundamentals coursework.
  • CPR certification or must obtain it at the next available class upon hire.
