About the position
DaVita is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide life-saving care in an outpatient dialysis center. This role is crucial for patients dealing with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease. The PCT will receive extensive paid training to develop the necessary skills for patient care and will work alongside a holistic team of healthcare professionals. Responsibilities
- Provide direct one-on-one patient care during dialysis treatment.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis, including measuring and recording vital statistics.
- Set up hemodialysis machines and ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Educate patients on kidney dialysis-related topics and build long-term relationships with them.
- Work collaboratively with a cross-functional team of clinicians, including nurses, dietitians, and social workers.
Requirements
- Desire to enter the healthcare field and care for others.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comfortable working around blood and needles.
- Ability to mix acid or bicarb as required.
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours on your feet.
Nice-to-haves
- Healthcare experience such as BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
