About the position
DaVita is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide compassionate care in an outpatient dialysis center, making a significant difference in the lives of patients with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease. This role offers an opportunity to start a career in healthcare with extensive paid training, allowing PCTs to develop essential skills and build a professional network. PCTs will work as part of a holistic team, providing direct patient care and support while advancing their careers through clear paths to higher responsibilities and compensation.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct one-on-one patient care during dialysis treatment.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis, including measuring and recording vital statistics.
- Set up hemodialysis machines and ensure patient safety and comfort during treatment.
- Educate patients on kidney dialysis-related topics and build long-term relationships with them.
- Work collaboratively with a cross-functional team of clinicians, including nurses, dietitians, and social workers.
Requirements
- Desire to enter the healthcare field and care for others.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comfortable working around blood and needles.
- Ability to mix acid or bicarb as required for treatment.
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours, including shifts of 12+ hours.
Nice-to-haves
- Health care experience such as BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
