About the position
DaVita is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide compassionate care in an outpatient dialysis center, making a significant difference in the lives of patients with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease. The position involves direct patient care, monitoring patients during dialysis treatment, and working as part of a holistic care team.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct one-on-one patient care during dialysis treatment.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis, including measuring and recording vital statistics.
- Set up hemodialysis machines and ensure safe and hygienic treatment.
- Educate patients on kidney dialysis-related topics and build long-term relationships with them.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of clinicians, including nurses, dietitians, and social workers.
Requirements
- Desire to enter the healthcare field and care for others.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comfortable working around blood and needles.
- Ability to mix acid or bicarbonate solutions.
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours, including shifts of 12+ hours.
