About the position
The Dialysis Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a crucial role in providing high-quality care to patients with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). This position involves monitoring patients throughout their dialysis treatment, including initiating cannulation, observing patient conditions, and setting up hemodialysis machines. The PCT must possess both technical skills and a compassionate approach to foster strong relationships with patients and enhance their quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment.
- Measure and record patient statistics.
- Initiate cannulation for dialysis procedures.
- Observe and report on patient conditions during treatment.
- Set up and maintain hemodialysis machines.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Desire to care for people and comfort working around blood and needles.
- Current certification from BONENT, NNCC, or NNCO for experienced PCTs.
- Current BLS/CPR certification for experienced PCTs.
