About the position
DaVita is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide compassionate care in an outpatient dialysis center. This role is essential in supporting patients with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease, allowing them to receive safe and hygienic dialysis treatment. The position offers extensive training and opportunities for career advancement within the healthcare field, emphasizing a holistic approach to patient care and teamwork among healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct one-on-one patient care during dialysis treatment.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis, including measuring and recording vital statistics.
- Set up hemodialysis machines and ensure patient safety and comfort during treatment.
- Educate patients on kidney dialysis-related topics and build long-term relationships with them.
- Work collaboratively with a cross-functional team of clinicians, including nurses, dietitians, and social workers.
Requirements
- Desire to enter the healthcare field and care for others.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comfortable working around blood and needles.
- Ability to mix acid or bicarb as required for treatment.
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours, including shifts of 12+ hours.
Nice-to-haves
- Health care experience such as BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
