About the position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) role at DaVita is a vital position in an outpatient dialysis center, focused on providing compassionate care to patients suffering from end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease. With comprehensive training provided, PCTs will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and support to patients during their treatment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct one-on-one patient care during dialysis treatment.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis, including measuring and recording vital statistics.
- Set up and operate hemodialysis machines.
- Educate patients on kidney dialysis-related topics and build long-term relationships with them.
- Work collaboratively with a cross-functional team of healthcare professionals, including nurses, dietitians, and social workers.
Requirements
- Desire to enter the healthcare field and care for others.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comfortable working around blood and needles.
- Ability to mix acid or bicarb safely.
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours, including shifts of 12+ hours.
Nice-to-haves
- Health care experience such as BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
