About the position

The position involves supporting FMCNA's mission by providing safe and effective dialysis therapy to patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The role includes operating hemodialysis machines, maintaining a clean working environment, and participating in quality enhancement programs to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing patient-specific education regarding dialysis adequacy measures and disease processes.
  • Welcome patients and inquire about their well-being since their last treatment.
  • Evaluate vascular access for patency and report findings to the nurse supervisor.
  • Obtain pre and post-treatment vital signs and weight, reporting any unusual findings.
  • Perform vascular access evaluation and cannulation, reporting any difficulties to the nurse supervisor.
  • Administer Heparin as delegated or allowed by state law.
  • Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders and monitor patients' responses during treatment.
  • Document all relevant information regarding patient treatment and vital signs accurately and timely.
  • Maintain environmental integrity by ensuring all areas are safe and clean, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment and surfaces.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities and document participation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. and must meet certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline.
  • Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred.
  • Successful completion of the FMCNA dialysis training program and CPR certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
