About the position

The Patient Dining Associate (Dietary Aide) plays a crucial role in enhancing the dining experience for patients in a healthcare setting. This full-time position involves assisting patients with menu selections, assembling and delivering meal trays, and ensuring compliance with nutritional requirements. The role is integral to the caregiving team, focusing on patient safety and satisfaction by delivering meals accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

• Help patients understand their menu selections and ensure orders comply with nutritional requirements.
• Work with caregivers and culinary team to determine menu alternatives for patients with dietary restrictions.
• Manage tray tickets and assemble meals according to each patient's menu selection in a timely manner.
• Retrieve trays from patient rooms at assigned times.
• Comply with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO.
• Adhere to facility confidentiality and HIPAA policies.
• Follow HACCP guidelines when handling food and cleaning work stations.
• Assist dietitians in monitoring patients on liquid diets or specific calorie counts.
• Communicate problems or concerns with patients to appropriate personnel.
• Complete daily, weekly, or monthly reports as outlined in policies and procedures.
• Comply with health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English.
• Basic computer and mathematical skills.
• Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to maneuver and push food delivery carts.
