About the position

The Patient Dining Associate Dietary Aide is a part-time role focused on providing essential dining services to patients in a healthcare setting. This position involves assisting patients with menu selections, assembling and delivering meal trays, and ensuring compliance with nutritional requirements. The role is integral to the caregiving team, emphasizing patient safety and satisfaction through accurate meal delivery and adherence to health regulations.

Responsibilities

• Help patients understand their menu selections and work with nursing to ensure orders comply with nutritional requirements.
• Work with caregivers and culinary team to determine menu alternatives for patients with food allergies, sensitivities, or cultural preferences.
• Manage tray tickets and assemble meals according to each patient's menu selection in a timely manner.
• Retrieve trays from patient rooms at assigned times.
• Comply with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO.
• Adhere to facility confidentiality and HIPAA policies and procedures.
• Follow HACCP guidelines when handling food and cleaning work stations.
• Follow facility and department infection control policies and procedures.
• Assist dietitians in monitoring patients on liquid diets or with specific calorie counts.
• Communicate problems or concerns with patients to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Complete daily, weekly, or monthly reports as outlined in Morrison Healthcare policies.
• Comply with health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of food service and customer service experience required.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English.
• Basic computer and mathematical skills.
• Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds and maneuver food delivery carts.
