About the position
The position is responsible for supporting the revenue cycle, compliance, and patient experience within the Emergency Department and BOS Digital Registration at Baptist Health South Florida. The incumbent will perform various tasks related to registration, financial screening, verification, and patient throughput, while ensuring a seamless experience for patients and caregivers. This role is essential and requires flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and during emergencies, while maintaining a commitment to service excellence.
Responsibilities
- Complete tasks in areas of registration, financial screening, verification, and patient throughput.
- Meet individual collection goals.
- Maintain a close working relationship with clinical team members to ensure a positive experience for patients and caregivers.
- Deploy legal, ethical, and compliance-related documents to patients at the time of registration.
- Provide professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients, families, employees, physicians, and community members.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, Certification, GED, or equivalent training and experience.
- Associates Degree preferred.
- Complete and pass the Patient Access training course.
- Experience in payment collection, billing, sales, or customer service in a fast-paced public health or Revenue Cycle setting.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and a team player with excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and maintain an agile mindset.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines including HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, etc.
- Understanding of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations, and pre-certifications.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and EMR applications.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish/Creole.
