About the position

The position is responsible for managing and resolving a high volume of patient accounts for services provided by Essentia Health. The role serves as the primary contact for patients to discuss outstanding statements and inquiries, ensuring timely resolution. It involves providing support for various billing-related issues, including insurance, coding, and financial assistance, through both face-to-face and telephone communication. The position also requires routine account analysis and follow-up on delinquent accounts, payment plans, and collections.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and resolve high volumes of patient accounts for services provided by Essentia Health.
  • Act as the primary contact for patients to discuss outstanding statements and resolve inquiries.
  • Provide efficient and accurate support for insurance, coding, registration, and financial assistance.
  • Perform routine account analysis to evaluate and implement action plans with patients.
  • Follow up with delinquent accounts and payment plans, including collection efforts.
  • Handle incoming patient mail and respond to inquiries via written communication.

Requirements

  • Experience with handling cash payments and self-pay collections.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of office equipment such as computers, software applications, printer, FAX, copier, and billing programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in customer service, call center, and/or collections.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Call Center, Collections, Medical Insurance Billing, and/or Health Care.
  • Some trade course classes in accounting, business, and/or communications.
