About the position

The Patient Food Service Host at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission plays a crucial role in providing exceptional food service to patients of diverse backgrounds. This position involves taking menu orders, assembling food trays, and delivering meals while ensuring compliance with dietary guidelines and maintaining high standards of customer service. The host will work closely with nursing staff and participate in process improvement efforts within the Nutritional Services department.

Responsibilities

• Serve patients by taking menu orders in person and over the phone using a computerized diet office application.
• Assemble food trays according to therapeutic diet guidelines and established presentation standards.
• Deliver food to patients and ensure timely retrieval of trays as per department standards.
• Provide excellent customer service by actively listening to patient and family concerns and implementing service recovery when necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of patient preferences and menu selections, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Participate in staff meetings and complete all mandatory education, maintaining a professional appearance at all times.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
• Ability to communicate with customers professionally and efficiently, both in person and over the phone.
• Ability to handle customer interactions in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
• Ability to use common software applications and hardware, such as iPads and ToughBooks.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of therapeutic diets.
• Ability to effectively multi-task.
