About the position

The Patient Registration role at Summa Health involves interviewing patients to gather necessary information for the registration process. Responsibilities

  • Interview patients in person or at their bedside to obtain necessary information for registration.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families to navigate the registration process.
  • Present, explain, and ensure completion of patient brochures and registration documents accurately.
  • Utilize resources to assign insurance plans and perform insurance eligibility checks.
  • Generate patient estimates and collect co-payments, co-insurances, and deductibles.
  • Identify uninsured patients and provide financial assistance information.
  • Refer patients to financial advocates when appropriate.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and professional presence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Post high school coursework in healthcare, accounting, business, public relations, or related field preferred.
  • One year of customer service or general office support experience preferred.
  • Experience in Registration, Insurance Verification/Pre-Certification, Financial counseling, or Patient Accounts is a plus.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations with respect and dignity.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook) with high accuracy in keyboarding.
  • Demonstrated communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and support team goals.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail.
