About The Position

The position is responsible for providing patient-centered care and operational support to the medical team, ensuring an optimal patient experience. The role involves coordinating activities in clinical areas, assisting with patient data collection, performing screenings, and completing relevant medical office functions. The individual will work collaboratively with colleagues to exceed patient expectations and maintain a smooth patient flow.

Requirements

  • Three years of customer service experience, preferably in a medical/healthcare/health insurance setting.
  • Patient registration experience preferred.
  • Completion of coursework towards accredited medical terminology is preferred.
  • Medical Office Assistant experience or training is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver exceptional patient services.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, including above-average verbal and written skills; bilingual skills preferred.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic ICD-9 CM coding and HCPCS-CPT4 procedure codes.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Basic clerical skills and knowledge of standard office equipment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to resolve registration issues.
  • Ability to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities.

  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Completion of a Parkland Workforce Development Training Program may substitute for required education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient service activities in coordination with the clinical team, ensuring patient comfort, safety, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Adapt work methods to accommodate the specific care needs of each patient.
  • Greet patients and families, assisting them with directions and inquiries.
  • Keep patients informed of wait times and circumstances affecting their visit.
  • Assess patient experience at the end of each visit to determine if needs were met.
  • Coordinate clinic activities and facilitate business processes according to standards.
  • Perform pre-visit activities to gather patient information for the clinic team.
  • Check patients into the clinic, ensuring correct identification and updated accounts.
  • Confirm or verify patient coverage and refer for financial counseling as needed.
  • Perform upfront cash collections and ensure accurate handling of transactions.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and referrals as directed by the clinical team.
  • Document patient care intake information accurately and timely.
  • Assist with maintenance of clinic supplies and equipment.
  • Practice patient safety measures and report safety hazards.
  • Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
