About the position

The Patient Representative Coordinator at Sanitas Medical Center plays a crucial role in managing patient healthcare and treatment needs while ensuring effective communication between patients and healthcare providers. This full-time position is based in the North Port - HUB facility in New Port Richey, FL, and involves welcoming patients, assisting with inquiries, and supporting patient flow to enhance service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes and greets patients/clients/visitors in a friendly manner and directs them to the appropriate department.
  • Works closely with other roles to ensure satisfactory service for patients.
  • Supports patient flow and minimizes wait times in the lobby.
  • Addresses patient concerns and collaborates with the Office Manager to resolve inquiries.
  • Completes daily pre-visit planning to confirm patient eligibility and accuracy of demographics.
  • Updates registration forms and informs patients of necessary information for their visit.
  • Collects co-pays and outstanding balances at the time of appointment.
  • Compiles and records medical charts, reports, and correspondence.
  • Interviews patients to complete insurance and privacy forms.
  • Receives insurance co-pay payments and posts amounts to patient accounts.
  • Schedules and confirms patient appointments, check-ups, and physician referrals.
  • Answers telephones and directs calls to appropriate staff.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and secures protected health information.
  • Assists with daily patient flow in various areas as needed.
  • Verifies patient identity by reading identification.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and legal regulations.
  • Communicates patient status observations to the Manager or nurse-in-charge.
  • Orders medical supplies according to departmental needs.
  • Participates in staff and department meetings and shares knowledge acquired.
  • Reports for duty on time and keeps patient information private.
  • Checks medical records and follows up on missing results prior to appointments.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • Basic Computer Skills required.
  • Customer Service skills and training required.
  • 1+ years of experience in the medical field required.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish required.
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties described.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of experience in customer service and the medical field preferred.
  • Relevant vocational coursework preferred.
