About the position

The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) plays a crucial role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care by continuously observing and monitoring high-risk patients. This position collaborates with the patient care team to ensure a safe environment, minimizing risks of falls and self-harm, while also assisting with basic daily living activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a direct line of sight with patients at all times, including during family visits.
• Accompany patients to ensure safety during transportation, testing, and procedures.
• Establish a safe patient environment by applying fall prevention protocols and infection control measures.
• Regularly perform room assessments to ensure safety after visitations.
• Document patient status and activities accurately during shifts.
• Assist nursing staff with tasks such as transporting patients and delivering supplies.
• Participate actively as a member of the healthcare team and promote teamwork to patients and families.
• Engage in performance improvement activities and seek opportunities for departmental enhancements.
• Restock non-medicinal patient room supplies as needed.

Requirements

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 7 days of employment start date.
