About the position

The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) role at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is focused on providing continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients to ensure their safety and well-being. The PSA collaborates with the patient care team to maintain a safe environment, minimizing risks of falls and self-harm while assisting with basic daily activities. This position is part-time, on a PRN basis, primarily during night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients.
• Ensure the patient environment is free of obstacles to minimize risks.
• Assist with basic activities of daily living as needed.
• Maintain a direct line of sight with the patient at all times.
• Accompany patients during transportation, testing, and procedures to ensure safety.
• Promote positive patient interactions and exceptional patient service.
• Serve as a resource to department staff, students, and volunteers.
• Monitor and report any changes in the patient's physical and emotional condition.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• BLS Certification within 90 days of hire.
• De-Escalation Training within 90 days of hire.
• 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.

Nice-to-haves
