About the position

The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) role at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission involves providing continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients to ensure their safety and well-being. The PSA collaborates with the patient care team to maintain a safe environment, assists with daily living activities, and promotes positive patient interactions. This position is crucial in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, particularly during night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a direct line of sight with patients at all times, including during family visits.
• Accompany patients to ensure safety during transportation, testing, and procedures.
• Promote consistent, positive patient interactions to enhance patient service.
• Serve as a resource to department staff, students, volunteers, and other departments.
• Monitor patients' physical and emotional conditions and report any changes promptly.
• Perform other duties as needed when not providing direct patient observation.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• BLS certification within 90 days
• De-Escalation Training within 90 days
• 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.

Nice-to-haves

• Clinical experience in a healthcare-related environment.
