About the position

The Patient Safety Companion (PSC) is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of patients during their stay at UVA Medical Center. This role involves monitoring patients, providing support, and assisting healthcare staff in maintaining a safe environment. The PSC works primarily during night shifts, contributing to the overall quality of care and patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Assist healthcare staff in providing care and support to patients.
• Report any changes in patient condition to the nursing staff.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to patients.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Basic understanding of patient care principles.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in CPR or First Aid is a plus.
• Experience working with patients with special needs.
