The Patient Safety Manager and Infection Preventionist plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and health of patients at the Lyster Army Medical Center in Fort Novosel, AL. This position involves managing patient safety and infection prevention programs, providing education and training to staff, and analyzing trends to improve patient care. The role requires expertise in risk assessment and the ability to implement effective safety protocols within the medical treatment facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide education for Patient Safety and Infection Prevention Programs, including training coordination for all personnel at the MTF.
• Maintain program requirements and validation criteria for the facility's patient safety program.
• Prepare and review aggregate trend analyses, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvement.
• Implement, manage, and evaluate the Patient Safety Program.
• Define, implement, and monitor the process to receive and centrally manage patient safety reports from clinical and administrative staff, patients, and/or visitors.
• Provide expertise and guidance to staff members in risk assessment, proactive risk analysis, aggregate analysis, root cause analysis, and development and evaluation of action plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or graduate degree in a field related to medical, health sciences, or allied sciences from an accredited program.
• One year of specialized experience managing Patient Safety Reports and implementing Patient Safety Programs, or a Master's degree in a relevant field, or a combination of education and experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a military healthcare environment.
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC).
• Knowledge of federal regulations related to patient safety and infection control.
