About the position

The Patient Safety Monitor Technician I is a clinical partner responsible for the remote monitoring of patients identified as safety risks. This role involves continuous observation of patients, alerting staff to any safety concerns, and ensuring adherence to safety measures. The technician works as part of a dedicated team within the Monitoring Center at Intermountain Healthcare, providing support across multiple hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Confirm patients to be monitored at the start of each shift.
  • Continuously monitor patients for safety concerns.
  • Communicate with patients remotely.
  • Redirect patients to adhere to established safety measures and recommendations from nursing staff.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to suspend monitoring when appropriate.
  • Notify appropriate clinical staff of changes in patient's behavior.
  • Document in iCentra.
  • Report and troubleshoot issues or concerns with remote monitoring equipment.
  • Collaborate with RNs and other interdisciplinary team members for best patient care.
  • Demonstrate effective teamwork, prioritization, communication, and organization.
  • Foster a safe environment by complying with safety policies and taking appropriate action in emergencies.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to identify at-risk situations prior to the need for intervention or redirection.
  • Ability to multi-task during busy monitoring situations.
  • Ability to use computerized systems to enter and track information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in healthcare settings (i.e., hospital, clinic, SNF, treatment facility, etc.).
