About the position

The Patient Safety & Risk Manager RN plays a crucial role in the Quality Resource Risk Management Team, focusing on identifying, monitoring, evaluating, and improving processes to enhance patient safety and reduce risks. This position involves collaboration with various committees and participation in quality assurance initiatives, directly impacting patient care outcomes in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, monitor, and evaluate processes affecting patient safety and risk reduction.
  • Educate staff and make recommendations for improving patient care processes.
  • Serve as a lead analyst/facilitator for root cause analysis and Failure Mode Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) teams.
  • Participate in the Medical Staff Quality Improvement program and peer review activities.
  • Collaborate in quality assurance and improvement processes, including case management and infection control issues.
  • Act as a change agent and resource for the network.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited school of nursing.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • One of the following certifications required within 3 years of hire: Patient Safety Officer Certification, Certified Professional Healthcare in Quality (CPHQ), or Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM).
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Indiana as per the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical and/or healthcare-related experience required.
  • Healthcare risk management experience preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to various situations and effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
