About the position
The Level II Patient Scheduler position at Essentia Health involves pre-registering and scheduling patients for various healthcare services in a professional and timely manner. This role requires effective communication with patient care teams and the ability to manage a high volume of calls and scheduling tasks, ensuring optimal patient care and service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Pre-register and schedule patients for appointments, procedures, tests, and other services.
- Answer incoming calls and manage follow-up and referral work queues.
- Communicate with patient care teams to ensure efficient care for patients.
- Complete patient checkout and schedule follow-up appointments as per physician's orders.
- Provide patients with cost estimates and itineraries for upcoming appointments.
- Support Population Management, Chronic Disease Management, and ACO initiatives through patient registry and outbound calling.
- Verify insurance eligibility and update guarantor information during patient registration.
- Accurately enter data into the electronic health record while interacting with patients.
- Work collaboratively with support and clinical staff to enhance customer service and clinical outcomes.
- Perform other clerical duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1 year of clinical healthcare experience OR 1 year experience as a Patient Scheduler I OR 1 year experience in a contact/call center.
