About the position

The Patient Scheduler at Newport Hospital is responsible for managing the scheduling of Diagnostic Imaging and Special Procedures. This role involves receiving bookings from physicians, compiling schedules, and performing various secretarial and reception duties. The scheduler ensures efficient patient processing and communication of diagnostic results, while adhering to hospital policies and customer service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Receives Diagnostic Imaging & Special Procedure bookings from physicians and compiles schedules.
  • Schedules procedures using methods that maximize all Diagnostic Imaging modalities.
  • Enters pertinent data into the RIS and retains original documentation.
  • Consults with Lead Techs and Radiologists regarding changes in schedules.
  • Receives procedural cancellations and adjusts schedules accordingly.
  • Communicates procedural preps and instructions to patients as necessary.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service and phone skills to schedule patients efficiently.
  • Answers multi-line telephones and communicates information effectively.
  • Prepares and releases films/CDs to patients and physicians.
  • Uploads and/or downloads requested images to the cloud as necessary.
  • Obtains/logs consents for Release of Health Care information for CDs and reports.
  • Completes registration and enters all data into the hospital computer system.
  • Interviews patients to obtain complete and accurate insurance and personal information.
  • Verifies demographic and insurance information and records it in the system.
  • Collects co-payments and documents collections in the system.
  • Explains consent, financial, and insurance forms to patients and obtains signatures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proficiency in data entry.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and/or experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills required.
