About the position

The Patient Service Coordinator in Primary Care at Hartford HealthCare is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to enhance the patient experience. This role involves greeting and registering patients, managing incoming calls, scheduling appointments, and ensuring a welcoming environment in the waiting area. The coordinator plays a vital role in maintaining efficient operations within the medical office, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding and professional customer service to ensure efficiency and promote a positive patient experience.
  • Warmly greet and register arriving patients.
  • Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally, evaluating priority and directing calls appropriately.
  • Schedule new patient appointments accurately and inform patients of essential preparation requirements prior to their visit.
  • Review daily Televox report of appointment confirmations to ensure an accurate schedule and appropriate communications with patients.
  • Collect co-payments and office charges as needed and explain office payment billing policies to patients.
  • Maintain a clean and inviting waiting room environment by actively removing trash and keeping magazines current.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Relevant experience in a fast-paced medical office highly preferred.
  • Epic experience preferred.
  • Positive, customer-focused approach with a commitment to providing excellent patient care.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Basic working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong working knowledge of insurance requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to communicate in other languages highly desirable.
  • Ability to travel independently to satellite offices with or without advanced notice.
