About the position

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) plays a vital role in enhancing the patient experience within an ambulatory clinic. This position is responsible for managing front desk operations, which include greeting and checking in patients, answering calls, collecting copays, and assisting with appointment requests through MyChart and EMR systems. The PSR ensures a seamless process for patients from scheduling to check-out, while also supporting the physician care team in preparing for daily appointments.

Responsibilities

• Schedule internal and external incoming department referrals and appointments using Epic Cadence.
• Maintain knowledge of appointment types, locations, providers, and specialties.
• Register patients during the scheduling process, including entering demographics and insurance verification.
• Collect point of service payments including copays and deductibles.
• Assist patients with MyChart activation and support.
• Ensure proper front desk coverage until the last patient is dismissed from the clinic.
• Participate in department daily huddles and process improvement initiatives.
• Communicate Health System Policies to patients and advocates.
• Maintain workspace and follow environmental health cleaning guidelines.

Requirements

• High School Graduate
• 1 or more years of customer service or healthcare experience
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
• High level of customer service skills focusing on problem resolution
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality

Nice-to-haves

• College coursework completed towards an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
• Clerical, registration, and/or customer service experience within a healthcare setting
• Bilingual with documented proof of competencies via language proficiency assessments
