About the position
The Patient Service Representative (PSR) plays a crucial role in facilitating patient access to Mercy facilities. This position involves various administrative tasks such as scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance, including pre-visit collections. The PSR is responsible for ensuring accurate patient data is collected and entered into the patient record, requiring exceptional attention to detail and knowledge of insurance and regulatory guidelines. Additionally, this role includes mentoring fellow Patient Access co-workers.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate patient entrance into Mercy facilities through scheduling and registration.
- Verify patient benefits and perform pre-certification and financial clearance.
- Collect pre-visit payments and ensure accurate patient data entry.
- Maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and accreditation standards.
- Serve as a mentor to fellow Patient Access co-workers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of applicable medical office experience preferred.
