About the position
The Patient Service Representative at Mercy is responsible for facilitating the patient entrance process into any Mercy facility. This includes scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance, ensuring accurate patient data is collected and maintained. The role requires exceptional attention to detail and knowledge of insurance carriers and Medicare guidelines, while also serving as a mentor to fellow co-workers in Patient Access.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate scheduling and registration for patients entering Mercy facilities.
- Verify patient benefits and perform pre-certification processes.
- Ensure financial clearance, including pre-visit collection of payments.
- Maintain accurate patient data in the patient record.
- Stay updated on insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and accreditation standards.
- Mentor fellow Patient Access co-workers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of applicable medical office experience preferred.
