About the position

The Patient Service Representative plays a crucial role in providing quality customer service and support within a family practice setting. This position is responsible for managing patient interactions, including registration, appointment scheduling, and handling various clerical duties to ensure a smooth patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to customer's needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Answers telephones properly, courteously, and tactfully; directing calls and returning messages to the appropriate party; takes complete and accurate messages.
  • Facilitates patient appointments and referrals in a timely, efficient, and friendly manner.
  • Obtains demographic and insurance information from patients and inputs data accurately into the patient management system.
  • Obtains required signatures on consents and distributes patient information and compliance literature.
  • Verifies patient's insurance eligibility utilizing assigned tools, updates information in patient's account as needed.
  • Prepares financial estimates of anticipated prices for services to be rendered and communicates this information to the patient.
  • Collects all current and past-due patient responsibility balances prior to services being rendered.
  • Performs daily reconciliation, balancing, and cash out procedures and enters payment into practice management system.
  • Prepares the next day's work for all scheduled patients.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year customer service experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPR Certification
  • General knowledge of healthcare terminology and abbreviations.
  • Previous healthcare experience.
