The Patient Service Representative (PSR) is a vital role within the medical office, responsible for managing front office processes in a physician practice. This position involves greeting patients, handling phone communications, scheduling appointments, and ensuring accurate patient data entry. The PSR plays a key role in enhancing patient experience and operational efficiency within the healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Greeting patients entering the physician practice.
• Answering office phones, making appointments, confirming appointments, and rescheduling when necessary.
• Checking in patients and collecting accurate patient demographics, entering data into the electronic system, and verifying insurance.
• Assisting in checking out patients and aiding them with referral processing and scheduling processes.
• Collecting co-pays and posting charges.
• Performing charge entry and patient balance processing.
• Distributing information to patients regarding office policies, procedures, and information about the practice.
• Explaining and enrolling patients in the patient portal.
• Handling additional responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate from a medical office assistant program preferred.
