About the position

As a Patient Service Representative at Optum, you will play a crucial role in enhancing patient experiences within a collaborative healthcare environment. Your responsibilities will include greeting patients, managing intake processes, handling payments, and maintaining medical records, all aimed at improving health outcomes and advancing health equity.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients as they arrive and manage wait time
  • Assist patients with intake processes including copying required documents
  • Collect co-payments, co-insurance and deductibles and issue receipts
  • Manage cashier box and daily deposits according to company policies
  • Process walk-in patients and visitors
  • Answer phones and schedule appointments
  • Manage medical records (maintains, files/scans, prepares for schedule)
  • Ensure all correspondence is scanned and/or filed in a timely manner
  • Run insurance eligibility for patients
  • Process requests for medical records release and maintain appropriate logs
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of experience in a healthcare or customer service-related field

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a medical front office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays and maintaining medical records
  • Knowledge with insurance eligibility
  • Knowledge of EMR software
