About the position

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) at UCSF Benioff Children's Physicians serves as the initial point of contact for patients and external physicians, providing essential administrative support. This role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, managing patient interactions, and ensuring efficient operations within the care center. The PSR is responsible for registration, scheduling, billing inquiries, and maintaining accurate patient records, all while fostering a warm and professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones professionally and assist callers with their healthcare objectives.
• Receive patients at the care center and provide information about clinical services and payment policies.
• Process new patient paperwork and collect copays.
• Schedule and confirm appointments, monitoring the schedule for capacity.
• Attend to billing corrections in a timely manner and assist with patient concerns.
• Distribute incoming paper lab results and scan records into patient charts as directed.
• Maintain office supplies and general office systems.
• Utilize Electronic Health Record (E.H.R.) and Microsoft Office Suite effectively.
• Remind patients of their appointments and return calls within 24 hours.
• Keep patient demographics and insurance information accurate in the EHR.

Requirements

• Exceptional public relations and customer service skills.
• Experience in patient interaction and administrative support.
• Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (E.H.R.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and physicians.
