About the position

The Patient Services Specialist (PSS) at MyCHN is dedicated to providing high-quality customer service in a healthcare setting, ensuring that all patients receive care without prejudice. The role involves interacting with patients, their families, and community partners to meet patient needs and uphold the mission of MyCHN. The PSS is responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality, scheduling appointments, and addressing patient concerns while demonstrating professionalism and a commitment to the organization's values of transparency, empathy, quality, and value.

Responsibilities

  • Provides high level of customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to SFACHN policies when releasing protected health information (PHI).
  • Stays informed of all policies and procedures to accurately document communications and route messages to the correct recipient.
  • Assists in resolving minor patient concerns using critical thinking and problem-solving skills, routing higher concerns to management.
  • Maintains knowledge of the OpenFQ EHR system to schedule appointments for clinical providers across all locations.
  • Completes prior and day-of confirmations, reviewing accounts to provide patients with pertinent information before their appointments.
  • Reviews established patient charts to ensure all necessary documents are present and up-to-date.
  • Discusses co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles with patients prior to their appointments.
  • Reconciles cash drawer with OpenEMR reports and prepares cash and credit card receipts for transfer to the accounting department.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
  • Familiarity with office equipment such as computers, calculators, photocopiers, and faxes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to work with people of all socioeconomic levels.
  • Strong team player with a focus on collaboration.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
