About the position

The Patient Services Coordinator at MD Anderson Cancer Center plays a crucial role in managing patient appointments, coordinating care, and ensuring the smooth operation of the inpatient unit dedicated to medical oncology. This position involves direct interaction with patients and their families, as well as collaboration with healthcare providers to facilitate treatment and care for patients with solid tumor malignancies, primarily in the genitourinary, breast, and internal medicine specialties.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule provider appointments, diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments.
  • Prepare and maintain daily appointment templates and patient records in One Connect.
  • Communicate pertinent information to families, physicians, team members, and other patient care areas.
  • Prepare patient materials and documentation according to established procedures.
  • Collect co-payments and validate patient insurance and demographics.
  • Update payment and patient information, and reconcile One Connect cash drawer daily.
  • Perform validation of the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ).
  • Ensure coordination of benefits and assignment of Hospital Account Record (HAR).
  • Follow standard operating procedures for the institution and center.
  • Protect the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of relevant work experience, with the possibility of substituting additional education for required experience on a one-to-one basis.
  • Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
