About the position

The Patient Services Coordinator at MD Anderson Cancer Center plays a crucial role in scheduling patient visits, appointments, and treatments while ensuring effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams. This position requires a strong focus on customer service and the ability to manage patient records and financial activities efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Schedules patient visits, physician appointments, diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments.
  • Communicates pertinent information regarding appointments, scheduling, prepayment, and financial counseling to patients and families.
  • Interprets and coordinates physician orders.
  • Prepares and maintains appointment templates and/or patient records.
  • Greets, orients, and answers questions from patients and family members.
  • Advises patients and family members of available services.
  • Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to ensure customer requests and needs are met.
  • Prepares and maintains appointment templates and/or patient records electronically and/or manually as directed.
  • Reviews and collects patient payments, including co-payments and deductibles.
  • Updates payment information in One Connect when directed by the Financial Clearance Center or Patient Access Services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years of relevant work experience required.
  • Experience in a patient care or healthcare administration setting preferred.
  • Experience working in a customer service environment preferred.
  • Ability to use a multi-line phone system preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree or in the process of completing one is preferred.
