About the position

The Patient Services Representative Senior at INTEGRIS Health plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of clinic data and patient information while providing exceptional customer service. This position involves mentoring new staff, managing patient interactions, and handling various administrative tasks to support the healthcare team. The role operates within a structured schedule of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, and is integral to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a mentor to new entry-level Patient Services Representatives
  • Ensures the integrity of clinic data and patient information
  • Answers telephones and takes concise messages
  • Scans and indexes information into the medical record
  • Handles requests for medical records and basic scheduling
  • Enters daily charges accurately, including time of service payments
  • Balances end of day business transactions accurately
  • Makes appointments for visits and informs clinical staff in emergencies
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Accurately enters patient demographics into the practice management system
  • Completes outgoing referrals
  • Assists in training new employees
  • Receives and dispatches incoming phone calls
  • Contacts third-party payers for benefit and pre-certification information
  • Collects checks and cash for co-pays and deductibles
  • Performs financial counseling related to ambulatory care billing processes
  • Works directly with clinical staff to ensure proper patient placement
  • Performs check-in and check-out duties accurately and timely
  • Takes messages from pharmacies, physicians, and hospital personnel
  • Manages large call volume while maintaining excellent telephone etiquette
  • Organizes workflow to meet patient needs in a timely manner

Requirements

  • 3 years experience in a health care setting including interpersonal & telephone customer services
  • Experience with cashier procedures and/or basic accounting
  • Knowledge of clinic check in/out procedures and basic health insurance
  • Familiarity with HMO, PPO, and basic medical terminology
  • General knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (Verbal/Written)
  • Must have a current Drivers License and acceptable driving record if operating a vehicle

  • Certification in electronic medical records within 60 days of hire
