About the position

The position involves interviewing patients to gather all pertinent account information, updating demographics, and verifying insurance coverage. The individual is responsible for ensuring that all required patient signatures are present for treatment, medical records, and insurance processing. They will ensure that all necessary documentation is presented to patients, making them aware of all hospital policies and procedures related to the admission process and treatment. Additionally, the role includes assisting and overseeing the day-to-day operations of all business office staff in the hospital setting. The individual will work closely with the Business Office Supervisor to provide leadership to all business office team members and assist with coordinating business office coverage in the hospital, personally aiding where needed. Responsibilities

  • Interview patients to gather pertinent account information.
  • Update patient demographics and verify insurance coverage.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of computerized office systems.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math; proper grammar and spelling skills, typically acquired through high school education or equivalent.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills to manage work in a patient care environment.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and detect, resolve, and correct problems.
  • Ability to react and perform in stressful and emergency situations.
  • Any combination of training and/or experience that meets the requirements noted above.
