About the position

The Patient Services Specialist (PSS) plays a crucial role in providing quality customer service within a healthcare setting. This position involves greeting patients, collecting their information and payments, scheduling appointments, and maintaining medical records. The PSS is responsible for ensuring that patient care is accurate and timely, while also managing various administrative tasks to support the clinic's operations.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and collect their information and payments.
• Schedule appointments and maintain medical records.
• Create and maintain patient charts within the EMR and billing systems.
• Accurately record and communicate Hospital Consults to the appropriate physician.
• Manage physician requests regarding schedule changes and patient appointments.
• Check-in patients, collect payments, and verify demographic information.
• Prepare and work reports in accordance with AON and clinic protocols.
• Schedule patient appointments including follow-ups, treatments, and referrals.
• Balance the cash drawer and prepare daily close deposit documents.
• Answer telephone calls and route messages appropriately.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of one year experience in the healthcare field, preferably in a physician's office.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency in a second language is an asset but not required.
• Experience with EMR and billing systems.
