About the position

Texas Health Fort Worth is seeking to hire a Patient Sitter for a full-time night shift position. The working hours for this role are from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, with a commitment to work three 12-hour shifts per week. The position requires a minimum of four weekend shifts within a six-week period, as well as one major holiday and two minor holidays each calendar year. This role is crucial in providing support at the Fort Worth hospital location, situated at 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76104. The Patient Sitter will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of patients by staying in the room and monitoring them at all times. This includes collecting data on patients' activities and verbalizations as requested and reporting any findings to the nursing staff. The Patient Sitter will also coordinate with staff for patient needs such as meals and restroom breaks, and will notify staff of any patient requests or unusual activities. The role requires collaboration with nursing staff to incorporate patients' cultural and religious needs into their care, and participation in process improvement activities within the department as requested. Responsibilities

  • Stay in the room and monitor the patient at all times.
  • Collect data on patient's activities and verbalizations as requested and report findings to the nurse.
  • Report any unusual verbal or physical activities via call bell or emergency call bell.
  • Coordinate with staff for patient needs such as lunch, dinner, or restroom breaks.
  • Notify staff for any patient requests, such as bathroom or repositioning needs.
  • Incorporate cultural and religious needs into the delivery of care in collaboration with nursing staff.
  • Attend training and education appropriate to care setting and practice.
  • Take action to protect patient rights and preferences.
  • Follow the chain of command.
  • Participate in process improvement activities within the department as requested.
  • Follow accepted scheduling guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required.
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 60 days of hire.
