About the position

The Supply Tech position at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center is a full-time role responsible for the efficient management and delivery of medical supplies to clean utilities and patient rooms. This position operates on a rotating shift schedule, ensuring that supplies are delivered in a timely manner according to a predetermined schedule. The Supply Tech plays a crucial role in maintaining the organization and functionality of storage areas, utilizing a two-bin Kanban system to ensure that supplies are consistently stocked and readily available where they are needed. This role requires collaboration with the Blue Bin stage operations team in the warehouse and the strider team to facilitate the movement of supplies to specific locations within the facility. In this role, the Supply Tech will be responsible for counting, pulling, and filling linen requisitions using appropriate technology and processes. They will adhere to established Kanban operating procedures, ensuring that the replenishment of Blue bins is conducted efficiently. The Supply Tech will also manage the returns of empty Blue bins, ensuring that they are returned to their original locations promptly. A key aspect of this position is demonstrating teamwork and cooperation in providing services to both direct and indirect customers, while keeping supervisors and team leads informed of any pertinent information related to job duties and the completion of scheduled work. The Supply Tech is expected to foster a culture of continuous improvement through the application of PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) principles in their daily activities, supporting PEX (Process Excellence) initiatives and lean training. Overall, the Supply Tech position is vital to the operational success of the MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of supply chain management within the healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Pull and deliver supplies to clean utilities and patient rooms on a schedule as assigned.
  • Count, pull, and fill linen requisitions using proper technology and processes.
  • Complete and follow Kanban standard work for operating procedures related to replenishing Blue bins and stage operations.
  • Follow the empty Blue Bin returns process by returning all empty bins to their original locations.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of stage operations and the Supply Tech 1 role in that operation.
  • Maintain communication with supervisors and team leads regarding job duties and scheduled work completion.
  • Foster an environment of PDCA in daily work activities and support PEX activities and lean training.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or certificate preferred.
  • Dependable and able to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to plan and organize work duties and be alert to safety hazards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team to accomplish goals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a supply chain or healthcare environment is a plus.
