About the position

The Patient Support Associate at the Hospital for Special Care plays a crucial role in providing safe and appropriate non-skilled therapeutic interventions to patients, particularly in the Pediatric Unit. This part-time position focuses on patient supervision, ensuring safety, assisting with patient transport, and maintaining a clean environment. The associate may also perform clerical duties as assigned, contributing to the overall care and engagement of patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and appropriate non-skilled therapeutic interventions as assigned.
  • Supervise patients to ensure their safety.
  • Transport patients in preparation for treatment.
  • Obtain and prepare equipment necessary for patient care.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly environment in the unit.
  • Perform clerical duties within the staffing office as assigned.
  • Assist with patient activities under the direction of licensed nurses.
  • Document assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Order patient equipment and supplies as directed.
  • Monitor available stock and maintain orderly storage of equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand directions in English.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Basic math skills for performing arithmetic operations.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • One year work experience with special needs population.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • CPI or Safety Care certification.
