About the position

The Patient Support Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, playing a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care. This position involves managing front-desk operations, supporting patient intake, and coordinating patient services within a fast-paced healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a customer-first attitude, contributing to the organization's commitment to improving patient health outcomes through accessible, value-based care.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors, ensuring they have a positive first impression.
  • Manage the waiting area and ensure timely communication about wait times.
  • Oversee front desk workflows, coordinate with medical assistants (MAs), and maintain provider schedules.
  • Accurately register and update patient information, verify insurance details, and ensure proper documentation of personal and financial information.
  • Collect co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles, and issue payment receipts.
  • Manage daily deposits and prepare bank deposits as per company policy.
  • Maintain, file, and prepare medical records as needed.
  • Process requests for medical record releases and ensure timely filing/scanning of all correspondence.
  • Assist with case manager scheduling and coordinate follow-up appointments.
  • Answer phone calls, schedule patient visits, and handle walk-in patient inquiries professionally.
  • Provide support to patients in navigating healthcare services, such as interpreter requests, prescription assistance, and transportation arrangements.
  • Handle patient information with the utmost confidentiality and adhere to regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, and EHR systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to safe work practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2-3 years of experience in a medical-related customer service role.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred but not required.
