About the position

The Patient Transporter plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of patients within the hospital. This part-time position involves coordinating with medical staff to transport patients to various locations, maintaining patient safety, and delivering medical items as needed. The role emphasizes customer service, effective communication, and adherence to safety protocols while contributing to the overall patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals to transport patients safely.
• Assist patients in and out of bed, using wheelchairs or stretchers as necessary.
• Maintain logs of time-sensitive specimens and supplies between facilities.
• Ensure patient safety at all times during transport.
• Remain with discharged patients until their ride arrives for pick-up.
• Deliver medical items to nursing units in a timely manner.
• Escort visitors, patients, or staff to appropriate areas of the hospital.
• Utilize proper body mechanics when lifting or moving patients to avoid injury.
• Participate in ongoing education and performance improvement initiatives.
• Utilize the service recovery process to address customer concerns.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• CPR Certification from the American Heart Association.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Strong communication skills.
• Customer service experience.
