Monmouth University Campus Police Department is seeking applications for multiple Patrol Officer I positions. This role is designed for entry-level applicants who may not possess current training and certification as police officers in New Jersey. Such candidates will be required to attend the New Jersey Police Academy, meet the requirements for the Basic Police Course, and commit to employment as a Patrol Officer with Monmouth University for a period of three years. The university will cover the costs associated with attending the police academy training, and trainees will be compensated at minimum wage during this period. As a Patrol Officer, you will be part of an assigned team responsible for providing campus safety, security, and law enforcement services to the University community. This includes a wide range of services, both traditional and non-traditional, aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the campus environment. The successful candidate must project a positive image and actively participate in crime prevention and community-oriented public safety programming that reflects the diverse population of the University. In this role, you will enforce University regulations, local ordinances, and state laws. You will act as a first responder to incidents, accidents, and emergencies, conducting initial and follow-up investigations into significant and criminal incidents. The position requires working under the direction of a Sergeant, Captain, or Chief of Police, and it is important to note that the University Police Department operates 24/7, 365 days a year. Therefore, the successful candidate must be available to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime as required by departmental needs.
